On the 23rd and 24th of May, the meeting for Southeast European Jewish Studies Network took place in Moise Palace.

After the first working meeting held at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory in Belgrade in November 2022, during which the participants officially started cooperation, ShoahLab organized a second, two-day meeting on the project to establish a network for Jewish studies in Southeast Europe. The meeting was held on Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24 at the Moise Palace on Cres. In addition to members of ShoahLab, representatives of partner institutions, ie University of Rijeka, University of Sofia, University of Solon, University of Bar-Ilan, and University of Sarajevo,  participated in the meeting.

The meeting was of a hybrid type and thus the participation of representatives of the University of Trieste, the “Leinbniz” Institute for European History, and the Jewish Museum of Moldova were made possible.

During the meeting, further steps towards the establishment of the network, joint activities, and the organization of an international conference on the topic of Jewish studies, which will be held in Belgrade in the first half of 2024, will be discussed.

The meeting was organized within the project “Network for Southeastern European Jewish Studies” supported by the Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe.
