7th Rectors’ Forum of Southeast Europe and Western Balkans

4 – 5 September 2023

University of Rijeka

At the occasion of the Rectors’ Forum for Southeast Europe, which comprises 27 universities from the region, the Center for Advanced Studies of the University of Rijeka is presenting its work and establishing a network to enhance cooperation among our universities. We wish to become the voice of academic institutions in this part of Europe.
The network of centers for advanced studies aims to voice out our strengths and work on bettering concrete measures to build a development strategy, minding the challenges such as lack of the critical mass of expertise for demanding projects, a tendency towards inbreeding, or the lack of a substantial contribution to regional cooperation in the academic setting.

Our region needs visions and policies that advocate for civic, democratic, multi-ethnic, multi-confessional, open, plural, and inclusive societies among our countries.
Together with our partners, the CAS SEE will open the regional call for fellowships articulated around the “culture of a shared future” to bring forward narratives, evidence, and politics to replace a culture of hostility with a common vision of a joint future.
We aim to produce substantial new knowledge and connections that will help us work better – together.
