Springback Ringside: Babae [Joy Alpuerto Ritter]
dance performance recorded in Virtual Reality
Thursday – 14th April at 6 PM (CET)
Moise Palace/ the City of Cres
On Thursday, 14th of April, at 6 PM (CET), at the Moise Palace, CAS SEE will host the dance performance Babae, by a german choreographer and dancer Joy Alperto Ritter. The specialty of this event lies in the performance recorded in VR technology. Spectators will have the opportunity to experience it all just by wearing VR glasses.
The performance is organized by the Croatian Cultural Centre from Rijeka, which holds a coordinator role of Springback Ringside Project, as the partner of the European Dance Network Aerowaves. The region tour includes visits to Delnice (CRO), Cres (CRO), Prague (CZ), Sassari (IT), Budampest (HU), Trbovlje (SLO), Ljubljana (SLO), Novi Sad (RS)…
Recording for Ringside simply places the two eyes of its 180º stereoscopic camera in the middle of the front row to film continuously everything in the performance that takes place in front of it. Those who watch the performance subsequently through VR headsets decide where to look – and even to dodge out of the way when things come close. The 3D is so compelling that the viewer can feel kinaesthetic empathy, the fundamental element of communication that defines dance performance (https://aerowaves.org/springbackringside/).
Aerowaves VR initiative has been selected by Perform Europe, an EU-funded project which aims to rethink cross-border performing arts presentations in a more inclusive, sustainable, and balanced way.
