Alice Pechriggl

Alice Pechriggl has been a full professor of philosophy at the Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt since 2003 and one of the most profound Castoriadis experts. From 1988 until his death in 1997, she studied with him at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, where he supervised her work on the gender imaginary.
She is also a Group Psychoanalyst. She has led several research projects, and has authored and co-authored various books and articles on Cornelius Castoriadis, Philosophy of the Body, Feminism, Gender, History of Philosophy, Cultural philosophy, Philosophical anthropology, Political philosophy and Psychoanalysis. She has received several Awards for teaching and the Award for Science from the City of Vienna. She is a member of the comité de rédaction, editing the abatement of Cornelius Castoriadis, a founding member of the interdisciplinary Gender Kolleg, founded in January 2001 at the University of Vienna.

About the Seminar

With this talk Alice Pechriggl aims at relating her current research about Verneinung, Verleugnung, forclusion… as a defense mechanism in the register of splitting and denial in a more political context with former research about gender and violence.
