We are happy to invite you to the CAS SEE Workshop organised by CAS SEE Fellows, Marco Abram, Marco Bresciani, Jan Mus and Francesca Rolandi from the History Department of the Faculty for Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Rijeka.
The workshop is dedicated to the new researches and approaches of the Upper Adriatic history and it will take place on June 10th from 9h15 to 13h30 at the Faculty for Humanities and Social Sciences(Room 206, 2nd Floor).
Special guest of the workshop is Professor Drago Roksandić (University of Zagreb) who kindly accepted the invitation to comment presentations by Jan Mus, Marco Bresciani, Štefan Čok, Marco Abram, Francesca Rolandi, Anita  Buhin and Chiara Bonfiglioli.

In the last three decades nation-states and nationalism as main actors of the historical processes have been more and more questioned. Different approaches have been developed especially with regards to the multicultural regions of Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe, particularly marked by the long-term imperial legacies.
This workshop aims to apply new post-national or transnational approaches to a so far overlooked region such as the Adriatic area. Due to its multicultural heritage, this region provides an interesting case study for some of the most significative political, cultural and social experiences which characterised Central and Southern Europe in the last few centuries. Particular attention will be devoted to the transitional periods and their impact on the (more or less conflicting and violent) relations between state and civil society, to the processes of social and cultural identification of national or supranational communities, to the shifting of borders and to the movements of populations, to the often contested public and collective memories.
The workshop will present both ongoing researches and new projects implemented by researchers coming from different countries and academic environments in the area (Croatia, Slovenia, Italy), with the aim of strengthening relations and exchanges across the national borders.
