How can we, as historians, understand the dissolution of Yugoslavia and the events that followed, in particular the Kosovo question?

This talk will investigate the multifaceted history and features of armed associations. It will relate them to ongoing social and political democratization processes to shed light on the contradictions of the pre-World War I epoch.

This talk aims to examine the possibility of interpreting Hans Kelsen's “Pure Theory of Law”–specifically his theory of law-application–as a theorization of the experiences of an active and, in many ways, “activist” constitutional judge.
