Workshop: Exploded Gaze
From March 22nd to 24th, a workshop titled “Exploded Gaze” was held at the Moise Palace for students of Acting and Media at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka. The workshop, led by Nikolina and Goran Sergej Pristaš from the Academy of Dramatic Arts at the University of Zagreb, focused on questions regarding the organization of perspective in live performance and spatial determinations of viewing.
Alongside a historical-theoretical contextualization of the organization of the gaze in theater, from antiquity to the present day, students had the opportunity to practically explore what the transition from monoperspectival to multiperspectival space means for the production of dramaturgical and choreographic issues, and how working with multiple vectors of view in space can inspire performance. Another important poetic focus of the workshop was the production of performance material through the exhaustion of a limited number of elements we work with, instead of constant change or addition as methods of resolving dramaturgical-choreographic questions.
