UNIRI & YUFE Minor Programs
The UNIRI & YUFE Minor Programs offer students a chance to engage deeply with contemporary societal challenges through structured interdisciplinary study. These 30 ECTS minors are designed to complement undergraduate or graduate studies and are open to all students enrolled at the University of Rijeka, YUFE students, and Erasmus+ or exchange students.
What is a Minor?
A Minor is a compact academic specialization completed alongside your primary degree. Each Minor spans one semester (30 ECTS) with core courses, electives, and a final Challenge Project.
Prerequisites
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at UniRi or partner institutions
- Proficiency in English
Academic Calendar
Programs run each Spring semester (approx. February to July) in hybrid mode: asynchronous online modules + on-site intensives in Rijeka. Evaluation details and schedule announced 2 months before start.
From digitalisation to climate precarity, today’s challenges are transforming how we work and how we live. The Work & Wellbeing Minor equips students with the knowledge and creativity to engage critically with these changes—and to reimagine labour and wellbeing for a more just future.
Structure
2 Core Courses (5–7 ECTS each):
- Discourses: Work and Wellbeing
- Research Methods and Techniques
Electives (choose 2, 5 ECTS each):
Topics include feminist care and health, post-work imaginaries, labour economics, anthropology of work, generational change, education and labour transitions, equality and inclusion.
Challenge Module (8 ECTS):
A mentored, student-led project developed through real-world fieldwork and collaborations. Students create portfolio-ready outputs—such as campaigns, consultancy blueprints, podcasts, policy briefs, illustrated essays, or toolkits—that demonstrate their ability to translate research into impactful practice.

This Minor investigates how political systems and power structures evolve in response to challenges such as climate collapse, corruption, disinformation, and inequality.
Structure
- 3 Core Courses (4 ECTS each):
- Rule of Law and Transnational Corruption
- International Relations and Social Theory
- Engaged Democracy
- Challenge Module (6 ECTS):
- Practical assignments connecting politics, international relations, and democratic engagement, imagining scenarios for a regime change (title: Undoing Autocracy)
- Electives (choose from 4 ECTS modules):
- EU Integration Policies, Critical Geopolitics, Nationalism & Populism, Anthropocene Politics, and more.
