Diversity Mixer (ECOC 2020)

Overview: The Diversity Mixer project aimed to foster diversity in the production of the cultural and creative industries of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
Together with its strategic partner, RIJEKA 2020, the CAS team used this project to give the “diversity” of its slogan a firmer grounding in the workplace as well — that is, in the composition of the workforce, in the content that workforce produced, and in the audiences it addressed.
During 2019, the project surveyed existing “diversity management” practices in the public and private sectors of the cultural and creative industries at both local and European level, and identified transferable models. An international conference, The Invisible: Diversity in Culture and the Creative Industries, was held, addressing diversity in the sphere of content.
In 2020, capacity-building activities were carried out for the staff of organisations and companies, with the aim of influencing public policy-making and embedding new criteria into public funding systems. In October 2020, the City of Rijeka, together with cultural institutions and organisations in Rijeka and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, signed the Diversity Charter.
Project duration: October 2018 – October 2020
Funder (Donor): Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme 2014–2020 of the European Union
