Valeria Graziano on Women’s Strikes at City of Women festival in Ljubljana

Valeria Graziano was invited to give the lecture “Strike Like a Girl – A Herstory of Stopping Otherwise” at the 32nd City of Women festival in Ljubljana, programmed by Pia Brezavšček and Jasmina Založnik. The lecture was held at Španski borci in partnership with En-Knap Institute.

Moving through half a century of women’s struggles, from the 1975 women’s day off in Iceland to hospital work-ins and sex workers’ organising, Graziano traced how women have stretched the meaning of the strike when their labour is indispensable yet rarely recognised as work, asking how social reproduction might be reorganised and what pleasures open up when refusal becomes collective.
