Pirate Care now out as Cuidado Pirata: ações anti-criminalização da solidariedade
Pirate Care, a collaborative research and publishing project co-developed by Valeria Graziano, is now available in Brazilian Portuguese under the title Cuidado Pirata: ações anti-criminalização da solidariedade. Published by Autonomia Literária in São Paulo and translated by Charles Jungles Nisz Lourenço, the new edition expands the reach of a project that explores practices of mutual aid, solidarity, and collective care in the face of increasing criminalisation.
The Brazilian Portuguese edition was officially launched this year at FLIPEI in São Paulo, bringing the publication to new audiences and conversations across Latin America. In addition to the translated text, the edition features a new afterword by Thiago Ávila of the Freedom Flotilla, offering further reflections on solidarity, activism, and contemporary struggles for social justice.
The publication also includes illustrations by Giuliana Ododuá, cover design and layout by Rodrigo Corrêa, flap text by Mandi Coelho, editing by Rafael Limongelli and Cauê Seignemartin, and revision by Sofia Ó.
Through its focus on care as a collective and political practice, Pirate Care continues to foster international dialogue around grassroots support networks, social cooperation, and resistance to the criminalisation of solidarity. The publication’s release in Brazilian Portuguese marks an important new chapter in the project’s ongoing engagement with readers, researchers, activists, and communities worldwide.
