Degraded Bodies, Degraded Environments: combating waste colonialism through art-activist production in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The proposed project – Degraded Bodies, Degraded Environments – investigates how different forms of artistic production bring together different publics across class, gender, generational, and educational divides in order to shed light on and to oppose colonialism imposed through toxic and hazardous waste in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through this waste colonialism, international companies both strip communities of factory assets, hiding or leaving unguarded toxic waste, and continue to pillage and extract value from communities whilst polluting them with impunity.
