Book Presentation: Fragmentation and the Future of Work

September 9, 2026 – 12:00 am
IFDT, Kraljice Natalije 45, Belgrade
The book Fragmentation and the Future of Work in Digital Capitalism, edited by Sanja Bojanić, Aleksandra Kanjuo-Mrčela and Jelena Guga, offers critical perspectives on the transformations of work, democracy, knowledge and social institutions under the conditions of digital capitalism. It is the product of many years of regional cooperation between the Center for Advanced Studies South East Europe at the University of Rijeka, the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana, and the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory at the University of Belgrade.
Working from a range of disciplinary perspectives, the authors examine how digitalisation, platformisation and artificial intelligence are changing work, the production of knowledge and social institutions, pointing to the uneven and contradictory consequences of digital transformation.
The book’s editors will discuss these questions — and what is changing today in how we understand work and its future — together with guests from sociology, media studies and the study of digital society.
The electronic edition of the publication is available HERE; the printed edition will be available at the event.
