Research Without Fear: Selma Porobić to Give Online Lecture as Part of YUFE Academy Autumn Programme

As part of the YUFE Academy Autumn Programme, Associate Professor Selma Porobić, PhD, will give an online lecture entitled “Research Without Fear: The Role of Universities in Protecting Academics and their Work.” The lecture will take place on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00, in English.

The lecture will address the growing pressures faced by researchers and the increasing challenges to academic freedom, which can no longer be taken for granted even in Europe. Selma Porobić will explore the role of universities in protecting academics and research processes from political, social and institutional pressures, and discuss what universities can and should do to ensure an environment in which research can be conducted freely and without fear.

The lecture is part of the YUFE Academy Autumn Programme, a series of short lectures and events organised by universities within the YUFE Alliance. The programme is free of charge and open to everyone interested.

Registration is required by 12 October. Register here.
