SUMMARY:Hope and refusal in an era of criminalized care: Responses to Pirate Care
DESCRIPTION:ONLINE: 3 March 2026 – 20:00 (CET) \nPirate Care: Acts Against the Criminalization of Solidarity contends that\, today\, our movements for collective liberation are increasingly defined by the calling to care for one another in defiance of the state and capital. From volunteer rescue boats in the Mediterranean to underground labs preparing gender-affirming hormones\, people are reclaiming the means to care for one another in defiance of a system that devalues and exploits us. \nSince its publication a year ago\, Pirate Care is even more relevant as we witness\, around the world\, people rising up to defend one another from fascism\, austerity and the cruel politics of disposability. We are practicing insurgent forms of care that courageously defy their laws and show the path to a better world. \nJoin us for an online discussion of Pirate Care by Valeria Graziano\, Marcell Mars\, Tomislav Medak. This event will launch a book review forum published in the Postdigital Science and Education Journal\, with contributions from Ioana Cerasella Chis\, Aria Danaparamita\, Panos Theodoropoulos\, Esther Planas Balduz\, Arianna Introna\, Joseph Davison\, Lena Wånggren\, Wilson Sherwin\, Birgan Gokmenoglu\, and Kirsten Forkert. \nThe event will be on the Zoom platform. SUMMARY:RECAS Surgery Week 2026 in Cres
DESCRIPTION:As part of the RECAS Fellowship Program 2026\, fellows and mentors will gather on Cres Island\, Croatia\, from March 9 to 14 for the annual Surgery Week – one of the central moments of the program. \nSurgery Week brings together 15 fellows from across Southeast Europe for an intensive week of research development and structured peer feedback. Each fellow presents ongoing work and engages in in-depth discussions with mentors and colleagues\, refining their projects and strengthening their analytical approaches. \nThe residency provides focused space for advancing research related to the Fellowship’s thematic areas: youth imaginaries and eco-digital futures\, while fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and meaningful regional exchange among scholars working across different institutional and national contexts. \nThe RECAS team looks forward to welcoming the fellows to Cres and to sharing insights from their work in the months ahead.
