SUMMARY:The 4th Moise Architectural Seminar: BEYOND
DESCRIPTION:The 4th Moise Architectural Seminar\, titled “Beyond\,” ventures into an explorative journey that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries\, embarking on a quest to redefine the scope and impact of architectural research. This seminar aims to foster a radical rethinking of architectural studies\, urging participants to contemplate and investigate beyond the conventional frameworks of architecture\, urbanism\, and geography\, and even beyond the tangible confines of cities and the intangible nuances of cultures and politics.

SUMMARY:The European Face of Political Epistemology 2.0
DESCRIPTION:For the second consecutive year\, the conference “The European Face of Political Epistemology 2.0” brought together around twenty philosophers\, political scientists\, sociologists\, and other scholars in the beautiful Renaissance Moise Palace in Cres. In a stimulating academic atmosphere\, they discussed contemporary topics in political epistemology\, ranging from trust in experts and institutions to the cognitive value of democracy and epistemic injustice. Alongside invited speakers\, including Miranda Fricker\, Jennifer Lackey\, Michel Croce\, and Lisa Herzog\, numerous future collaborations were agreed upon. After the conference\, a doctoral workshop was held with Miranda Fricker\, where doctoral candidates from the postgraduate program “Philosophy and Contemporaneity” presented their papers and received valuable feedback.

SUMMARY:CEEISA-ISA Joint International Conference 2024\, Rijeka
DESCRIPTION:The politics of knowledge production shapes how we make sense of world politics and our scholarly practices. Established analytical frameworks and the distinction between the local and the global are often taken for granted in International Studies. They reflect epistemic authorities hailing from social and material hierarchies. Such structures generate and discipline political imaginaries and policy designs. They underpin interpretations of current events even when impartial expertise is claimed

SUMMARY:Academic Space? Anthropological Positions and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:In the first week of February\, the anthropologist Professor Ghassan Hage was sacked from the Max Planck Institute of Social Anthropology in Halle for sharing posts on social media that expressed views “that are incompatible with the core values of the Max Planck Society”. \nIn support of our colleague Prof. Hage\, and in support of all our colleagues who find themselves under similar pressures by their institutions\, we want to think further about the “academic space” and how it is shaped by the relation between the institution and academic work. We want to consider questions such as:

SUMMARY:Dialogues for Peace: Regional Perspectives on Palestine / 2. Historical Relations to Palestine
DESCRIPTION:The “Dialogues for Peace: Regional Perspectives on Palestine” invites us to engage with one of our time’s most enduring and contentious issues. Set against the backdrop of the recent devastating Israeli attacks on Gaza that followed after the Hamas terror attacks in Israel\, this series of lunchtime online discussions seeks to unpack the historical\, political\, and human dimensions of a struggle that has shaped and continues to shape global geopolitics. The series calls on participants to reflect on the power of international solidarity and the responsibility of global citizens in the face of conflict and suffering.
